Participants from megacities in Europe and North America have agreed to meet for their next annual international workshop on the water and climate challenges facing megacities in the Euro/North American region. The workshop will be held in Paris on November 18, 19 and 20, 2025.

Following the annual European and North American megacity workshops held in New York (in 2023) and London (in 2024), representatives from the megacities of Chicago, London, Los Angeles, New York and Paris will meet again, this time in Paris, with the expected participation of Istanbul.

Since 2015, efforts to establish MAWAC in its particular format have brought together Decision-makers, Researchers and Operators, all urban water professionals working in service of the world's largest cities, to share their experiences and together develop joint projects to accelerate the necessary adaptation to the effects and challenges of ongoing climate change.

The Paris 2025 workshop is organized by ARCEAU-IdF (the association of water stakeholders in the Paris megacity) in partnership with the Metropole du Grand Paris, Eau de Paris, Agence de l'eau Seine Normandie and with the support of other public and private stakeholders in the Paris conurbation.

Under the auspices of UNESCO's IHP, this workshop also aims to contribute to the ongoing process led by the new Working Group of UNESCO's International Hydrological Programme (IHP) Council in line with its resolutions for the official creation of the Megacities Alliance for Water and Climate Change (MAWAC).

The event will take place on the premises of the Agence de l'eau Seine-Normandie and will also be accessible remotely. The aim of this workshop is to provide a forum for sharing innovative experiences and exchanging views on the various approaches to water management and its place in the context of climate change. Technical tours will aslo be organized.

This is not a public event, participation only by invitation.
